Phil Hellmuth’s Texas Hold’em Book Review

Play online poker with thousands of real people for FREEThis book was written in 2005. All of you already know Phil Hellmuth and would probably assume that his book would be an ego trip displaying how great he is at poker. Well in my opinion and others although they wouldn’t want to admit it, Phil Hellmuth is a remarkable Hold’em player, his tournament track record proves this.

Having said that let’s talk about his book “Phil Hellmuth’s Texas Hold’em” This book describes in depth great strategies for beginning players when it comes to Limit Hold’em. Phil explains different situations and gives detailed examples of what to do in key situations with certain hands. Despite Phil’s tournament track record, it also has a Texas Hold’em tournament section, which I find a little less helpful.

The strategy in this book is a great guideline and definitely needs to be tweaked against No Fold’em Hold’em type players, but isn’t poker all about making adjustments. After reading this book I played about 2,000 hands online just playing Phil’s Top Ten hands and won some serious money.

If you can get passed the big ego that Phil Hellmuth has, this is a must read and certainly a decent starting point for beginner players. Once you have learned the minimal pre-flop requirements of hands and how to play them, this book will also teach you how to open up your game.
